Fair Food & Farm Frenzy

September 4, 2020

It is time to celebrate the end of summer and get your fair food fix! The Altamont Fair is hosting a Fair Food & Farm Frenzy drive-through on September 4, 5, & 6. The hours are Friday 4pm - 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm,  $5 admission. Rain or shine!

We are teaming up with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County to showcase the 4-H program. We really missed sharing the 4-H program with you during Altamont Fair time, so here is just a “taste” of it!  The 4-H kids will have their projects on display as well as farm animals on Saturday and Sunday. We will have various animals an display on various days - lambs, chickens, calves, rabbits and goats.  We also have some other invited guests – Crackers, the emu with his companion turkey, Ritz! We are hosting some kid’s games that they can do from the vehicle. Be sure to bring some change for the coin toss thru Old Mother Hubbard’s boot to win a goodie bag sponsored by Stewarts, go fishing in the fish pond and ball toss to Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater’s pumpkin. Check out all that 4-H can offer! This will all be along the trail for Fair Food!

We have some great local vendors – Corner Grill, Angela’s Fried Dough, Angela’s Pizza, Butcher Boys, Black Honey Sheep Company, Uncle Spuds, Mountain Winds, Altamont Orchards, Ashley Lynn Wines, La Capital Tacos and Pop’s Kettle Corn. These great vendors will be featuring all kinds of great fair food: chicken and rib BBQ, pulled pork, sausage and peppers, wine slushies, kettle corn, fresh cut French fries, blooming onion, tacos, turkey legs, burgers, cider donuts, steak sandwiches, maple cotton candy and so much more! Check our website for full details on the menus – altamontfair.com/fair-food-fest.

This is a drive-thru event, $5 admission, all you will have to do is drive in at the entrance to the fairgrounds, the big sign on Rt. 146 and Arlington Street, drive up thru Gate 3, order and pick up for take-out! At the same time, while you wait, you can enjoy the exhibits shared by the 4-H kids! Remember there will be a wait as patrons drive thru to each vendor. You can enjoy your wait in your air conditioned car, no matter the weather! We ask that you stay in your vehicle and wear a mask during interactions with others to minimize exposure. We are following CDC and Albany County Health department guidelines.

You are more than welcome to tailgate in the parking lots to enjoy the food while it is hot.  We have socially distant picnic tables available in the campground areas.  Once you receive your food, drive out Gate 1 and take a right to Gate 3. Park there and walk into the grove to enjoy your food.
