KIDS RULE AT THE 2019 ALTAMONT FAIR

The 2019 Altamont Fair, August 13-18, offers family fun with an emphasis on things to do and experience for kids.  “Kids are an important customer for the fair,” said Amy Anderson, fair manager. “The memories kids and their families and friends make at the fair last a lifetime.” 

Bring the kids to the fair this year and make memories at these fun activities:

Jay Mattioli Magic Show - He became one of the youngest magicians in HISTORY to be recognized by his peers as a two-time champion of stage magic. His recent appearances include venues in Las Vegas, Egypt, Hong Kong, The Caribbean, and for U.S. troops in The Middle East.  More recently Jay electrified the nation and stumped the judges with his appearances as a Quarter-Finalist on NBC's "America's Got Talent" and as a Finalist on FOX's SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO". See Jay’s show at Noon, 3 PM and 6 PM on the Northrup Stage.

Royal Hanneford Circus – The Hanneford circus is wholesome family entertainment. The Hanneford family is bringing the fair a fresh new show that is guaranteed to bring smiles and laughter to each and every audience with their wide variety of high-end acts and talents from all over the world. Multiple shows daily. 

The Fearless Flores Family Thrill Show - was featured on season 6 of America’s Got Talent. The Fearless Flores Family consists of Ricardo (Father), Arcelia (Mother), Cyndel (13-year-old daughter) and Volorian (eight-year-old son). These ninth and tenth generation performers from South Florida are proud to present "Motorcycle Madness" inside the legendary "Globe of Death" (motorcycles inside a metal ball).  Ricardo and Arcelia have presented this act for more than 10 years and Cyndel began at the young age of six, while Volorian started his daredevil life at the unbelievable age of four. Cyndel and Volorian are currently the youngest brother and sister team to race inside the "Globe of Death." August 14,15,16,17 in the grandstand at 7:30 PM and at 3:30 PM on Sunday, August 18.


Carnival Rides - For the over 36” set, there are kiddie land rides. Many of our kiddie rides also are family rides so parents can ride with their children. Some of these include the Dizzy Dragon, Jalopy Junction, Mini teacups, train, and the always popular merry-go-round. Daily from NOON - 10 PM.

Kiddie Playground - For the under 36” set, The kiddie playground was developed for the little ones who are too small to ride any of the rides. There is a hay maze with some cars, planes, and trains to sit in. Parents must chaperone their children at all times. The playground is only for children under 36 inches tall. Open from 12:00 - 10:00 PM daily. Located near the Midway.


Power Wheels Demolition Derby for Kids – Watch these kids get in on the derby action with power wheels cars! Drivers are age 4-9. The show is on Tuesday, August 13 at 7 PM as part of the Monster Truck Freestyle. Want to enter your child? Visit www.jmderby.com for more information.

World of Wonders – The World of Wonders presents 10 incredible acts live on stage, under the big top. The entire family will be entertained by sword swallowers, knife throwers, circus hula hoopers, stage magicians, fire eaters, and many more! Shows daily on the Midway.

Dynamo Dogs - You’ll love this high energy, fast-paced, exciting act featuring agility and disc dog skills. This unique presentation showcases the dogs’ abilities. Gail Mirabella brings out the best in her dogs thanks to the genuine bond and affection shared with them. Shows daily on the infield at 2:30 PM, 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM.

Jennifer’s All Creatures Barnyard Races - These shows are fun, interactive and unique! The racers are just as unique and maybe pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, turkeys, chickens or even puppies! Audience members are picked to be cheerleaders. All races are themed and fairgoers love to sing along! A bellringer is picked from the audience to start each race. Multiple shows daily.

Sherman’s Lumberjack Show - a tradition at the fair, this show features talent, skill, and fun as the lumberjacks entertain young and old! Daily shows at 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM in the Village and Carriage Museum.

Uncharted Wild - This show will captivate audiences with vibrantly colored exotic reptiles, fun facts, a few wild stories, and engaging demonstrations and presentations. Multiple shows daily.

Monster Truck Freestyle – Featuring Overkill Evolution and Iron Warrior. Overkill Evolution is one of the most exciting trucks on the Monster Jam circuit. The show is on Tuesday, August 13 at 7 PM.


Demolition Derby – Get a crash course in fun at the demolition derby! This is the world’s largest demolition derby with four events and a feature championship. The show is on Sunday, August 18 at 2 PM.


Fire Truck Race - Located at Hometown Heroes. Register just before the event. FREE. Tuesday, August 13, 15, 16, 17, 18 at 1:00 PM.

Ice Cream Social sponsored by Stewarts - Be cool at the ice cream social located at the Farm House Museum. Wednesday, August 14.

Equine Costume Show - Located at the Main Horse Ring, come see all the fun costumes on the horses and ponies. Wednesday, August 14.

Bean Bag Contest - FREE Kids contest. Register just before the event. Thursday, August 15, 16, 17, 18 at 2 PM at the Circus Museum.

Hay Bale Toss - FREE Kids contest. Register just before the event. Friday, August 16 at NOON at the Village & Carriage Museum.

Goat Costume Contest - Come see kids of a different kind dress up and strut their stuff. Friday, August 16 at 4:00 PM in the Sheep and Goat Ring.

Pony Pals 4-H Horse Drill Team - Synchronized pony show that is fun for all ages. Friday, August 16 at the Horse Ring at 7 PM.

Gates open at 10 AM until 10 PM
Exhibits and vendors open 11 AM - 10 PM daily
Carnival and rides open Noon daily 
Sunday - Livestock barns close at 7 PM
Wednesday, August 14 is Senior and Armed Services Day – 65+ plus active/veteran military receive free admission with rides.
