Are you ready for the Altamont Fair? The Fair will be open on Tuesday, August 14th through Sunday, August 19th. The Altamont Fair celebrates 125 years of showcasing agriculture and history and providing family-friendly entertainment.
New this year on Tuesday, August 14 only is a Monster Truck Freestyle and a Power Wheels ‘Demo Derby’ for children ages 4-9. “We are very excited to bring this one day show in. There will be two vehicles crushed and folks can get up close before the show. Entries for the Power Wheels derby are available online – really a great chance for kids to have a blast on their Power Wheel vehicles.” says Amy Anderson, fair manager. “We also have a full schedule of livestock shows – sheep, goats, rabbits, dairy and beef cattle” Amy continues. “We are changing up our equine shows a bit – this year, our Saturday horse show is closed and will be for equine exhibitors that stay all week. Time to get your entries in for all of the competitions! Do you have a great pie, pickle or cookie recipe? Are you a quilter or fiber artist? We have contests in photography, flowers, vegetables, hay and many more areas of interest. Enter your best at the Fair! All of the entry information is available online at www.altamontfair.com. Most of the competitions have an entry deadline, paper entries are due July 28th, 2 pm and online entries are open until August 3rd, 9 am.
The Ag Awareness Trail, the scavenger hunt for kids is back with new questions to spur on the exploration of the Fairgrounds. Be sure to turn in your completed forms to enter into the drawing for free tablets. We have free kids games and activities in many of the buildings to educate and entertain. Bring the kids to decorate cookies with Miss Altamont Fair. We have a baby animal area and an expanded “Hands on Farming” for the little ones to share the farm experiences.
New this year - The Axe Women of Maine will be on the grandstand every day. The Altamont Fair is pleased to announce the Dynamo Dogs are returning, sharing their Frisbee expertise and enthusiasm. Michael DeSchalit, Master Hypnotist and Master Magician is back this year performing on the Grove stage. Circus Hollywood is back with 7 acts of circus fun under the big top. Check out all the museum's featured exhibits. Every museum will host a special tribute to celebrating our 125th year! The Sherman Lumberjack show will perform in the Village & Carriage Museum. Stop in the Petting Zoo to visit the Giraffic Menagerie featuring “Twiggs” the giraffe and other animals.
Altamont Fair has a tradition of featuring great music that performs on the Reid Northrup Stage. Check out your favorites and catch some new music! Skeeter Creek, the region’s award-winning country band, and the Audiostars, playing some serious rock & roll will perform. The Altamont Fair welcomes The Refrigerators, the renowned high energy dance band and The Big Sky Country to the Grove stage. Ready for some singing fun? Bobby Stillwell hosts the Karaoke microphone on Tuesday and Thursday.

One-price admission (for patrons 36” and taller) includes unlimited rides, attractions, Circus Hollywood under the big top and parking. Admission is $15 online, $17 at the gate on Tuesday and Wednesday, and $19 at the gate Thursday through Sunday. Wednesday is Senior and Military Day – seniors 65 years and up and members/veterans of the Armed Forces receive free admission until 6 p.m. that includes rides thanks to Dreamland Amusements. The Altamont Fair is a three-county fair representing Albany, Schenectady and Greene Counties.
