Tips for Engaging Kids at the Farmer's Market
Did you know that the farmer's market is a good learning environment for your children?

The variety of sights sounds and smells at Farmers’ Markets engage your children’s senses. Here are 3 easy ways to connect with them:

• Ask your kids to keep track of fruit and vegetables in season and talk about where it came from. This way they understand the importance of 'real' food and why it is important to nourish our bodies with it.

• Kids love to be helpful, take advantage of this and make them in-charge of paying for and weighing the produce.

• Encourage them to talk to the farmers. A lot of farmers are proud of the work they do and are happy to talk about it.  Your kids can ask questions like - Why are you a farmer? What are your favorite things to grow?

Next time you go to your favorite Farmer's Market, bring your child and make it a fun and learning experience!
