Review: Monster Jam 2018 at Times Union Center

It was our first time attending Monster Jam, so we didn't know what to expect. It turns out, Monster Jam is a fun event for the entire family! We became instant fans and thought that this will not be our last. My child is obsessed with cars, trucks, trains and really anything with wheels. He loves his toy Monster trucks at home, so seeing these monster machines come to life before his eyes was a unique and pretty cool experience!
We had a fantastic time and if you are thinking about going to a Monster Jam show, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Ear protection is a must. The show is extremely loud, so be smart and bring noise reduction ear protection for everyone in your family. Kids surely need it, and adults will appreciate it. My child wore ear muffs, hubby and I used earplugs from the pharmacy.
Don't miss the Pit Party. I think the Pit Party is a "must-do" especially if you're taking the kids. It will give you an opportunity to see Monster Trucks up close and make this experience truly memorable. They will be able to meet and chat with the drivers, get their autographs and take pictures! Are you a fan of Grave Digger or Monster Mutt? For popular Monster trucks, there's always a line to meet the drivers and get their autographs. If you can, arrive early at the Pit Party.
What to Expect. Keep in mind that the show lasts about 2.5 hours with an intermission. There were 8 Monster trucks that competed for the fastest, best wheelie, best donut, and best freestyle. Apart from Monster trucks, there were also ATV races. Know that the Pit Party ends at 12 PM and the main event starts at 1 PM, so there is an hour break to grab lunch. For kids with short attention span this long wait could be a challenge, so plan accordingly. Times Union Center also does not allow re-entry without purchasing another event ticket. Be sure to bring everything you need with you, the 1st time you enter.
