Review: Shopkins Live!

Shopkins Live! at the Palace Theatre was an exciting event for my two daughters!  It was a lot of fun and appropriate for their age and interests. My daughters are ages 1 and 3 and very soon to be 2 and 4. Shopkins toys are exciting to them, so of course, the show was amazing! When I asked my 3-year old what she liked best about the show, she responded: "I liked all of it, I didn't have a best". 

As a local mom, here are some of the reasons why we enjoyed the show: The stage design and backdrop was vibrant and colorful. We also loved the lively song and dance numbers from the performers. The songs were hip and upbeat, which encouraged the crowd to dance on their seats and along the aisles. The Shopkins characters are also very familiar to my daughters in real life i.e. Apple, Cookie, Ice cream, High-heeled shoes, etc. The show lasted about 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. For me, this is long enough to entertain and keep my daughters' attention. I also enjoyed seeing the happy faces of all the kids at the show. Overall, we had a great experience watching Shopkins Live! at the Palace Theater. We also appreciated the officers from the Albany Police Department who were visible at the venue before and after the show. It gave us a great sense of security. They were also a big help for families who need assistance crossing the streets with their children. 

Some things that need to be considered if you are planning to watch Shopkins Live! at the Palace Theater in the future. Be mindful that parking is limited, so allow enough time to park in case you need to walk a distance to and from the theatre. The show was scheduled at 6 PM which was close to dinner time. For working parents, this could be a challenge so plan ahead of time.  My family loves the Palace theatre, we have been to several shows and my children loved every single show! I feel that we are lucky to have the Palace Theatre so close to where we live and I hope that they continue to offer family-friendly performances in the area.
