Local Mompreneur Spotlight: LipSense by Micchelle's Pucker Perfection

KissProof, SmudgeProof, WaterProof, Wax-Free, Lead-Free, Gluten-Free, Vegan & Cruelty-free

When Micchelle Jackson, a Local SeneGence Independent Distributor (#285825) asked me if I would like to try and review LipSense, without a doubt I said 'yes'! Micchelle is a working mom and a long-time Macaroni Kid Schenectady supporter. Like Micchelle, I also have a day job. Apart from putting together your weekly Macaroni Kid Schenectady e-newsletters, I also do HR work for a leading food service and solutions company.

Like any busy parent, after sending my child off to school everyday, I then rush to get myself ready for work. Since I don't have a lot of time in the morning, I have kept my morning makeup routine simple: foundation and lipstick. That's it! Lip color is one of those things that I can't live without. It's my picker-upper! Wearing any kind of lip product whether lip color or gloss makes me happy and gives me more confidence to tackle anything that come my way.

So, does it really work? Could there really be a lip color that is Kiss-proof, Waterproof, Smudge-proof, Wax-free, Gluten-free, Lead-free and Vegan? And one that doesn’t dry out lips? Read on.

Micchelle sent me the starter kit which included the lip color in Napa, Glossy Gloss and the Ooops! Remover. I read the instructions carefully and tried the lip color for a week. The 1st time I applied the lip color, I felt a burning sensation on my lips which I was expecting because my lips were dry and chapped. The burning sensation didn't really bother me as it was gone in 3 to 5 seconds and then after a day or two of using LipSense, I no longer experience it.

For best results, I found out that I need to apply the lip color thinly 3x to clean, dry lips using a layering technique. It took a little practice to apply the color in one continuous stroke, versus going back and forth like you would with lipstick. You need to wait for each layer to set for a few seconds before proceeding to the next. When the color has set, I then apply the Glossy Gloss for final layer. I think the gloss is a must and what makes my lips feel moisturized. Do you need the Ooops! Remover? For me, it isn't necessary. I used it once and I might not use it again, but it's good to have it on hand, just in case.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely! It stayed vibrant for more than 8 hours! I'm impressed that it lasted through Iced Coffee, kisses, mid-morning fruit break, lunch, and hours after I arrived home. It did not smudge, budge or transfer to a napkin or my favorite mug. It's all good stuff too: Vegan, Lead-free, Wax-free and Cruelty-free. The investment cost for the 3 items of $55 may be steep, however if you consider applying the lip color only once a day, it's pretty economical. If you are buying just the Lip Color it's $25 and Gloss is $20. Micchelle also shared that a tube can last 4 to 6 months. One tube of LipSense outlasts up to 4 tubes of any competitor brand!
