Family Travel Destination: A Review of LEGOLAND® Florida

By Gladys Dunbar April 27, 2017
Orlando is one of my family's favorite vacation spots because it is overflowing with theme parks and attractions. Legoland Florida is one of the fun places to explore with your kids when you are on vacation in Orlando. We checked it out recently and had a terrific time!

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort is built for kids. This 150-acre interactive theme park offers more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, restaurants, shopping, and a water park all geared to families with children ages 2 to 12.

Our first stop was, of course, LEGO® City, the place for kids to drive their own car, steer their own boat or put out fires! My son was giddy to drive his own LEGO® car. He was grinning from ear to ear as he was cruising along the track. He was proud to drive the car by himself and felt accomplished when he was awarded his license.

At Pirate's Cove, we watched the live Water Ski show featuring the Imperial Guards and Captain Brick Beard. It was full of surprises and was truly entertaining. Near Pirate's Cove is Imagination Zone. Here we worked together in designing and redesigning, the speediest race cars and the fastest flyers. My son didn't want to stop building until his LEGO® cars won all the races and his flyers zoomed the fastest on suspended ziplines!

Another highlight was the newly opened LEGO® NINJAGO® World. My son was thrilled to go through "Ninja training" and took all the attractions to heart. He was obsessed with the rock wall, which he scaled several times, tested his reflexes on the Lightning Drill and spun until he was dizzy on Kai's Spinners. He had a blast!

Our family's favorite ride and I think is a must-do at the park was the Quest for Chi at the LEGO® World of Chima™. We were laughing the whole time as we got soaked trying to dodge waterfalls and shooting water cannons in this interactive boat ride. Pro tip: Bring extra clothing and/ or shoes, and be sure to put your cell phone in a waterproof case.

Finally be sure to cool-off at LEGOLAND® Waterpark! There were umbrellas for shade, plenty of lounge chairs, and life vests for little ones. We waded, splashed and bounced at the gentle Wave pool. At Joker Soaker, our son loved going down the slide and enjoyed getting soaked as buckets of water tipped. Another unique and cool feature of the water park is the Creative Cove where our kiddo built and raced his own LEGO® boat!

Overall we had a wonderful time at LEGOLAND® Florida. The attractions, rides, shows and all the interactive hands-on play provided a fun day for our family!
