Leprechaun Trap

By Gladys Dunbar March 7, 2019

Inspired by the book "The Night Before St. Patrick's Day" by Natasha Wing, my son and I devised a plan to catch the notorious leprechaun! This year we built a leprechaun trap with simple materials that we found at the dollar store and around the house.

Materials:

  • An empty tissue box
  • Wrapping paper, tissue paper, or construction paper in various shades of green
  • Plastic gold coins or foil-wrapped chocolate coins
  • Colored Pipe cleaners
  • Stickers (for decoration)
  • Green hat
  • Scotch tape
  • Double sided tape
  • Scissors

Directions:
1. Wrap the shoe box with green paper.

2. Decorate the box with stickers.

3. Bend, twist and shape your pipe cleaners into a rainbow and ladder. Use scotch tape to attach the rainbow to the box.

4. Attach the hat's lid to the box on one side using scotch tape. Leave the other side open and add your gold coins

5. Put double-sided tape all around the pile of gold coins so when the leprechaun tries to steal the gold, he'll get stuck!

Wish us luck!
