10 Things To Do This March

By Jennifer Schorr March 7, 2019

This month Macaroni Kid has a list of things to do this March, from family fun ideas for special days, to things you might have forgotten to do, to things to do for yourself...

1. Clean out Closets
It’s soon going to be consignment/ garage sale season soon so now is a great time to go through your child(ren)’s closets and find all the spring and summer clothes that no longer fit them.

2. Learn about an Inspirational Woman
March is National Women’s History Month. This is a great opportunity to teach our kids about some women who are strong, courageous and great role models.

3. Enjoy that Extra hour of Daylight
We may lose an hour when we “spring forward” on March 1oth, but that means that we’ll be enjoying the sunshine for an hour longer each evening. How will you spend that extra hour?

4. Be Irish for a Day
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Cabbage and Ham. Do an easy St. Patrick's Day Craft with the kids or join the festivities at St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 16th.

5. Butterflies and Blooms
Escape winter’s chill and discover brilliantly colored native butterflies at miSci’s indoor butterfly house.

6. Do your taxes
April 15 will be here before you know it. Schedule a date on your calendar to just do it and get it out of the way.

7. Learn about our Body
Browse a 16-foot brain. Walk through a giant, pulsating heart. Stroll through the colon, operate a robot, and discover so much more at Journey Through The Body© on March 22 and 23rd at Crossgates Mall. This event is presented by St. Peter's Health Partners and News Channel 13.

8. March 28: National Something on a Stick Day
Use your imagination and celebrate this day with a meal on a stick, like these Sandwich Skewers from our food newsletter EATS!

9. Experience the Marple Syrup process
Every spring, the members of the New York State Maple Producers Association invite the public to experience New York maple syrup making via 2019 Maple Weekend NY. Mark March 23th, 24th, 30th and 31st as Maple Weekend on your calendar.

10. Write something
March 30 is National Pencil Day, so take your pencil and be creative. Write a note to someone, write a poem, or create a shared journal with your child.
