It's getting cold outside! We know your kids, young and old, still need to get their wiggles out, so here's a list of our favorite indoor play places in Schenectady and neighboring communities that are worth the drive. Air Adrenaline Adventure Park is located at 30A Post Rd Albany. It's an indoor trampoline park that features a kiddie area, airbag pit, dodgeball area, and basketball shooting lanes and more.
Billy Beez an indoor play area that features slides, ballistic arena, sports courts, an area for little kids, tunnels, swings and more! It's located at Crossgates Mall Albany.
Children's Museum of Science & Technology (CMOST). CMOST has a lot to offer with exhibits like Construction Junction, Tinker Space, Move It/ Shake It, Nano Exploration and a Nature place. It's located at 250 Jordan Road Troy.
Dave & Buster's at Crossgates Mall Albany is a restaurant chain with arcade games for kids of all ages.
Empire State Aerosciences Museum (School-aged Children). Located at Schenectady County Airport in Glenville and at the site of the former General Electric Flight Test Center. The Museum offers visitors a variety of enjoyable and educational experiences, including interpretive exhibits, a spectacular collection of restored aircraft, the state's largest aviation library, as well as education programs. Open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
Fun Town Bounce (Crawlers to 11 years old). Affordable, high energy play for the kids located at Viaport Rotterdam. It features a toddler zone and three fun-filled inflatables. Open: Mon to Thurs - 11 am to 8 pm, Fri to Sat - 11 am to 9 pm, and Sunday 12 pm to 6 pm.
Giggle Lounge (Crawlers to 6 years old). A Kids Imaginative Indoor playground that also features a Cafe and Snack bar. Located at 22 Clifton Country Road Clifton Park. Open: Mon to Fri - 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday 9:30 to 5:30 pm and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.
Museum of Innovation & Science (All ages). Features Zoom into Nano and Trains exhibit. There are planetarium shows and an interactive play space including a kid-sized supermarket, train table, water table, bubbles, KEVA, and giant blocks! Located at 15 Nott Terrace Heights Schenectady. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm; Thursday 10 am to 8 pm (Observatory 6pm to 8pm) and Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm.
Libraries (FREE, All ages) all branches in every community. Most libraries have fabulous kids areas where you can play and read to your child. Check the library nearest you for story times, teens and family fun programs for the Winter!
Local Bowling Alleys. Bowling is fun no matter your age. Kids will have fun knocking over all the pins! Check out Boulevard Bowl, Sportsmans Bowl, Towne Bowling Academy, Via Entertainment, or Sparetime.
New York State Museum's Discovery Place features something for visitors of all ages. Parents will delight in discovering alongside their children. Together they can flop down on the comfortable furniture for a story, examine bugs through magnifying lenses, follow young Rufus' adventures on the Erie Canal, play an old-fashioned game of checkers, and much more. A visit to Discovery Place promises fun for the entire family! There is also a carousel on the top floor, which is open from 10 am–4:30 pm, generally every 15 minutes.
Rollarama Skating Center (school-aged kids). Bring your own quad skates or inlines, or rent a pair. Sizes range from a child size 6 to an adult size 15. Located at 2710 Hamburg St. Schenectady.
Ring Around the Spectrum is an all-inclusive sensory gym in Latham, NY that has therapeutic equipment designed for children with autism and other developmental delays. It's located at 1214 Troy Schenectady Road.
Schenectady County Recreational Facility (Ice Rink). The ice rink offers a wide range of recreational skating, ice hockey and figure skating programs for all ages. It is located at 5 Tower Road Scotia.
Skit and Kaboodle (Crawlers to 10 years old). Skit and Kaboodle is a play center for kids that use drama and music to foster important life skills such as literacy, problem-solving, language development, confidence, social skills, and more!
The Children's Museum at Saratoga. It's located at 69 Caroline Street Saratoga Springs. The Children’s Museum is developmentally appropriate for children ages 0-8. The museum provides opportunities for children to explore history, community living, science, and the arts.
The Wonder Room (Crawlers to 8 years old). An Informal, home-like indoor/outdoor space for children. The Wonder Room offers programs that encourage experiential learning in a play-based setting. $5 per child per visit for 18 mos. and older, with an accompanying adult. Monday and Friday 9am to 5pm. It's located at 896 Saratoga Road Ballston Lake.
TreePaad Fun Center (Fun for all ages). Malta's premiere Family Fun and Entertainment Spot for toddlers to big kids. Play areas include Fort Ballocity, Laser Runner, Bounce houses, Laser Mazer, Video Arcade, Rock climbing, Toddler soft play, and Jumpshot Basketball. Located at 2381 Route 9 Malta.
True Escape Mystery & Escape Rooms (Ages12 and up). Presents unique and interactive Live action Adventure Games. You will have to work as a team to solve puzzles, riddles, find clues, and complete tasks if you hope to solve the room. Located in the Viaport Rotterdam Mall.
Tumbling Tykes is an indoor playground suitable for 6 months to 6 years old. Socks are required for both adults and children. This place has a slide, a mini trampoline, a ball pit and more!
Twist N' Flip Rotterdam. Drop-in for Open Workout every month. You do not need to be enrolled in any of their programs to play. Located at 1650 Crane St. Schenectady.
Via Aquarium (All ages) is the capital region's only full-scale Aquarium. Explore over 25,000 square feet of oceanic treasure as you and your family embark an exciting self-guided tour visiting over 2,000 creatures of the sea. Our favorite is the interactive Discovery Cove and walk-through tunnel. Opens Mon to Fri - 10 am to 7 pm, Sat 10 am to 8 pm and Sun 11 am to 6 pm.
Via Entertainment (Tweens and Teens) is a 30,000 square foot family entertainment complex which features an Arcade with 55 games and Bowling Lanes with lights and sounds.
We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym is a gym stocked with special equipment designed to suit the needs of children with sensory processing disorders. It's located at 1490 Saratoga Rd, Ballston Spa.
Zero Gravity Laser Tag & Arcade is Neon-lit laser-tag arena sprawled out over multiple levels & accompanied by a huge arcade. It's located at 1240 Central Avenue Albany.
