It's getting cold outside! We know your kids, young and old, still need to get their wiggles out, so here's a list of our favorite indoor play places mostly in Schenectady and a select few that are worth the drive.
Some are FREE and some are pay to play. All places will help entertain and engage your children during the cold months. Comment below if you have a favorite that's not on the list. Thank you!
Fun Town Bounce (Crawlers to 11 years old) Affordable, high energy play for the kids located at Viaport Rotterdam. It features a toddler zone and three three fun-filled inflatables. Open: Mon to Thurs - 11 am to 8 pm, Fri to Sat - 11 am to 9 pm, and Sunday 12 pm to 6 pm.
Giggle Lounge (Crawlers to 6 years old) A Kids Imaginative Indoor playground that also features a Cafe and Snack bar. Located at 22 Clifton Country Road Clifton Park. Open: Mon to Sat - 9:35 am to 5:30 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.
Museum of Innovation & Science (All ages). Features Tinkering from the San Francisco Exploratorium and the Living House and an Indoor Butterfly House starting February 18th. There are planetarium shows and an interactive play space including a kid-sized supermarket, train table, water table, bubbles, KEVA and giant blocks! Located at 15 Nott Terrace Heights Schenectady. Open Monday - Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm. Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm. 
Libraries (FREE, All ages) all branches in every community. Most libraries have fabulous kids areas where you can play and read to your child. Check the library nearest you for story times, teens and family fun programs for the Winter!
Little Feet Dance Street (Toddlers) at Viaport Rotterdam offers a FREE Toddler Tuesday class for children ages 4 and under from 11 am to 12 pm.
Local Bowling Alleys. Bowling is fun no matter your age. Kids will have fun knocking over all the pins! Check out Boulevard Bowl, Sportsmans Bowl, Towne Bowling Academy or Via Entertainment. 
Open Door Bookstore. Open Door Bookstore is Schenectady's locally owned bookstore and gift gallery. When in Downtown this place is a must-stop for our family. Apart from finding a variety of carefully curated books and unique gifts, their staff are friendly and always willing to help. There is also a small play space inside for little kids filled with toys great for imagination and free play. It also hosts story time and FREE kid activities in our community. Open Mon-Sat: 10am – 6pm, Thurs: 10am – 8pm and Sun: 10am – 2pm
Rollarama Skating Center. Bring your own quad skates or inlines, or rent a pair. Sizes range from a child size 6 to an adult size 15. Located at 2710 Hamburg St. Schenectady.
Schenectady County Recreational Facility (Ice Rink). The ice rink offers a wide range of recreational skating, ice hockey and figure skating programs for all ages. It is located at 5 Tower Road Scotia.
Twist N' Flip Rotterdam Drop-in Open Gym every month. You do not need to be enrolled in any of their programs to play. Located at 1650 Crane St. Schenectady.
The Wonder Room (Crawlers to 8 years old). An Informal, home-like indoor/outdoor space for children. The Wonder Room offers programs that encourage experiential learning in a play-based setting. $5 per child per visit for 18 mos. and older, with an accompanying adult. Monday from 9am to 3pm and Friday from 9am to 5pm, Select Saturdays and Feb Break. Located at 896 Saratoga Road Ballston Lake.
TreePaad Fun Center Malta's premiere Family Fun and Entertainment Spot for toddlers to big kids. Play areas include Fort Ballocity, Laser Runner, Bounce houses, Laser Mazer, Video Arcade, Rock climbing, Toddler soft play and Jumpshot Basketball. Located at 2381 Route 9 Malta. 
True Escape Mystery & Escape Rooms (Ages12 and up) Presents unique and interactive Live action Adventure Games. You will have to work as a team to solve puzzles, riddles, find clues, and complete tasks if you hope to solve the room. Located in the Viaport Rotterdam Mall. Open 3 pm to 8 pm.
Via Aquarium (All ages) is the capital region's only full-scale Aquarium. Explore over 25,000 square feet of oceanic treasure as you and your family embark an exciting self-guided tour visiting over 2,000 creatures of the sea. Our favorite is the interactive Discovery Cove and walk-through tunnel. Opens Mon to Sat - 10 am to 9 pm and Sun 11 am to 6 pm.
Via Entertainment (Tweens and Teens) is a 30,000 square foot family entertainment complex which features an Arcade with 55 games and bowling Lanes with lights and sounds.
