Family Friendly Events & Activities for Kids in Schenectady County

Due to inclement weather the Jumpin' Jack's Fireworks at Scotia was cancelled yesterday and is now scheduled on the 22nd of July. If you are looking for options this weekend, here's a list of other Independence Day Celebrations in the Capital Region-Saratoga area. Saturday, July 2
Waterford Steamboat Meet 2016 (Waterford). 
Antique steamboards, antique outboard motors, historic tug urger, restored tug buffalo, entertainment for kids, vendors and entertainment. Plus fireworks! Fun starts at 10am. 

Sunday, July 3 to July 4th
Saratoga All American Celebration (Saratoga Springs). The Ninth-Annual Saratoga's All-American Celebration will once again close Spring Street, Putnam Street and Henry Street for a downtown party! The fireworks will be shot off from behind the Congress Park carousel. The AudioStars concert will be on stage in the Spring Street surface lot. The car show will be along Division Street. BBQ & Dessert Fest will take place all along Broadway, throughout Downtown Saratoga Springs, and in the Spring Street parking lot. 

Monday, July 4

Schuylver Mansion State Historic Site (Albany)Enjoy an early American July 4th celebration on the grounds of Schuyler Mansion. 18th century- inspired games and performances, as well as other activities and ice cream will be free of charge to commemorate this important holiday. The mansion will be available for Open House (self-guided) tours, noon to 3:00 p.m. at $3.00 per person. 

New York State July 4th Celebration (Albany). This annual event features live music, and fun for the whole family, including the best fireworks show in the region. The Boogie Wonder Band is on the forefront of neo-funk-and-disco bands that capture the horn-fired sounds and hedonistic fun of the ’70s. With spectacular costumes and a very solid set of musicians, the Boogie Wonder Band considers itself the most disco-loving band in all the land.


July 4th Celebration (Clifton Park)
. Parade route begins on Route 146 in front of Shenendehowa School campus and ends at Clifton Common. Rides, games, food and craft vendors at Clifton Common follow after the parade. Live music featuring  Live music featuring: Danny Seraphine, Bill Champlin and the California Transit Authority and The Accents! Fireworks display at 9:30pm. 

July 4th Celebration at the Saratoga Battlefield (Saratoga). Celebrate and give cheers as 20 immigrants become citizens of the USA! Enjoy live fife and drum music by Rural Felicity, and hear the crack of musket fire and booming cannons. Join in 13 lemonade toasts to the "new" United States. Join Park Ranger Joe Craig as he portrays a town crier declaring America's Independence and leads a rousing 13 celebratory toasts from 2pm-2:30pm. Cannon and musket firing demonstrations all day!

Tri-Valley Cats vs Independence Day game (Troy). Celebrate Independence Day with Baseball and Fireworks! Tri-City ValleyCats vs. State College Spikes at the Joe Bruno Stadium. Enjoy a post game Fireworks extravaganza! 


New! Friday, July 8
Albany-Saratoga Speedway (Malta)  King of Dirt Pro Stock Series plus Fireworks! Albany-Saratoga Speedway is a 4/10 mile dirt stock car race track with a long and storied history in the Capital District region of New York. It is conveniently located on Route 9 in Malta NY.

Friday, July  15 
Schenectady County SummerNight 2016 (Schenectady) Grammy Nominated 90's band the Gin Blossoms will headline Schenectady County SummerNight 2016. This FREE summer family-friendly block party will be held on Friday July 15, from 5:00pm until 10:00pm in Downtown Schenectady. 


Friday, July 22
Jumpin' Jack's Drive In (Scotia). Jumpin' Jack's Drive-In has presented this Schenectady tradition for many years. The annual celebration features a Water Ski show at 7pm, Entertainment at the Freedom Park at 8pm and Fireworks display around 9pm.
