As shared before, one of our family's Fall traditions is to go to Ellms Family Farm. We are grateful to be given the opportunity to visit the farm again last Sunday, September 27th. The weather was perfect and we spent the entire afternoon at the farm. The best thing about the Ellms Family Farm is that it is packed with old-fashioned fun activities for kids of all ages. Overall the farm is clean and well-maintained and the people that work there were very friendly and helpful. We also appreciate that they added new attractions, which kept it fresh and exciting especially for families like us, that visit the farm every year.
As soon as we entered, we immediately went into the jumping pad. This is one of the main attractions and there was no waiting time, and the line was short. It also felt like the jumping time was longer this year, which is good because I know that when my child is having fun, it is usually hard to get him to leave. Plus I was also glad to see that the farm has added another jumping pad nearby, and this one is shaped like a giant jack-o-lantern!
Little D enjoyed riding on the Pedal Cart, bouncing on the Jump park and zipping down the hill on the Roller Coasters. He also played at the Duck Race, Spider Web, Tube gliders and the Corn pit! Apart from the jumping pads, our family's favorite this year was the Slide Mountain, it offers 3 slides of various lengths and slopes and we had fun sliding down the biggest one, over and over again!
For maximum fun, my tips are: 1) Plan to stay at the farm for a couple of hours. There are so many things to do and you would like to give your children time to explore and enjoy most of the attractions. It closes at 6pm so plan accordingly. I noticed that around 4pm, it starts to get less crowded. 2) Prior to going, familiarize yourself with the map online and plan how you want to plan your day. 3) Dress appropriately and wear your most comfortable shoes. There will be lots of walking and sloping areas in the farm.
We had an wonderful time at Ellms Family Farm, it truly is a great place to Discover Fall Fun! I asked little D if he had a good time at the farm, and he said "Yes, I loved it! There are lots of cool things you can do!" Ellms Family Farm is one-of-a-kind in the Capital Region, and we are lucky to have it so close to were we live so plan your visit soon and make it part of your Autumn Family tradition, as it is ours!
