FREE INDOOR LEARNING/ PLAY AREAS
Libraries in every community. Most libraries have fabulous kids areas where you can play and read to your child. Check the library nearest you for story times and family fun programs for fall/ winter season.
Colonie Center Play Area has a small play area located at level 1, by Sears side of the mall. You will find soft structures for climbing and sliding for children, manipulatives and comfortable seating for care providers. Plus stop by Barnes & Noble at Colonie Center for story times, Lego building and a train table.
New York State Museum's Discovery Place features something for visitors of all ages. Parents will delight in discovering alongside their children. Together they can flop down on the comfortable furniture for a story, examine bugs through magnifying lenses, follow young Rufus' adventures on the Erie Canal, play an old-fashioned game of checkers, and much more. A visit to the Discovery Place promises fun for the entire family! There is also a carousel at the top floor, which is open from 10 am–4:30 pm, generally every 15 minutes.
Wilton Mall play area in Saratoga. It is located near JC Penney and has several soft climbing structures for kids, tubes to crawl through and some horses. There is plenty of seating for parents.

The Wonder Room Informal, home-like indoor/outdoor space for children. The Wonder Room offers programs that encourage experiential learning in a play-based setting. $5 per child per visit for 18 mos. and older, with an accompanying adult. Fall hours are Monday & Friday, 9am to 3pm. Located at 896 Saratoga Road Ballston Lake.
TreePaad Fun Center Malta's premiere Family Fun and Entertainment Spot, featuring age appropriate games, rides, prizes. That children of all ages from toddlers to big kids will appreciate. Play areas include: Fort Ballocity, Laser Runner, Bounce houses, Laser Mazer, Video Arcade, Rock climbing, Toddler soft play and Jumpshot Basketball. Check their website for the pricing. Launch Pad The LaunchPad is an outreach of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Play with your under 5 child for FREE! Ride the roller coaster, climb, slide and imagine in the large and colorful space-themed facility. There is also a quiet room with rocking chairs, if your child needs to take a break or if you’d like to nurse/change baby. Open play is every TTH, 9:30am to 11:30am. Located at 63 Mountain View Avenue Albany.
Via Entertainment at Rotterdam includes the Fun Zone, which features an arcade with more than 55 games and several staggered bowling lanes with a unique light and sound show.

Pump N' Jump Children ages 2 - 12 years old are allowed to play on the inflatables. There are designated play areas for toddlers and younger children ages 2 - 6 years old. Kids can walk in and play any time during regular Pump ‘n’ Jump hours which are Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Located at Crossgates Commons Albany. If you are purchasing a ticket for Kid Flight and plan on jumping with your child, you only need to purchase the "Kid Flight (6 and Under)" ticket, per child. Open jump is available to ALL ages.
