Eight years coming, and it's here! The Laurie Berkner Band, authentic superstars of kids' music proudly announces the September 23rd release of Superhero, the highly anticipated first full album since 2008 loaded with all-new songs by beloved children's musician and our family's favorite Laurie Berkner.
We received a copy earlier this week and we couldn't be happier! It's jam-packed with 21 freshly composed Laurie Berkner originals plus two "bonus" tracks. We listen to it everyday, and it's been playing non-stop in the car especially for morning school drop-offs and pick-ups. If you are a fan, you won't be disappointed. If you're not a fan, you will be converted! Songs in the Superhero album ranges from quiet, a cappella fingerplays to get-up and dance full band anthems.
Superhero explores a range of musical styles, including 60’s pop, rock, lullabies, reggae, and more! Guest artists include Ziggy Marley singing a duet with Laurie on the song “My My Marisol”, musical yogini, Kira Willey on “Swing Me”, Brady Rymer on “Opelika Alabama” and Laurie's daugther, Lucy Mueller on "Elephant In There". The Laurie Berkner Band is composed of: Laurie Berkner (guitar, lead vocals), Susie Lampert (keyboards), Bobby Golden (percussion), and Brady Rymer (bass).
All the songs speak to kids without talking down to them, through imaginative lyrics that both delight and energize. Our favorite track is Superhero. It's brimming with contemporary edge, tremendous dance energy and an empowering message for kids and grown-ups alike. Laurie Berkner explains, "To me, Superhero is about self-empowerment - being our best selves and discovering the superhero in all of us."
