Once upon a time, there was a little boy who has become picky with the food he eats. His parents were concerned that he is not getting the right nutrients for his growth and development so they decided to make a drastic change in their family's meals. One of the best things that they've done to support this change was to join a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
This picky eater is my child. Eating healthier as a family was our biggest goal in joining Fox Creek Farm CSA for the 1st time this year. After 3 months of doing a complete overhaul of our family's meals and about a month into getting our CSA share, we have seen a turn-around in my child's eating habits.
It's been an uphill battle and like any change, there are still bad eating days. Still, I am hopeful that we are going in the right direction and happy to see progress in my son's food choices. He has eaten more and has been open to trying out new vegetables- like Garlic Scrapes and Spinach! He has also declared Sugar Snap peas as his new favorite vegetable, next to Broccoli.
Our generous CSA share last week consisted of:
- Lettuce
- Mesclun salad mix
- Garlic Scapes
- Broccoli
- Arugula
- Spinach
- Edible-podded Snap Peas
